27 Card Rummy is one of the variation of rummy that dates back farthest and is still popular among the card game lovers. Three card decks of 53 cards, including three printed Jokers, are used to play this variation between two and five players and use of an extra group of 2 Up & 2 Down. Rules & Points System of 27 Card Rummy Game

If every card is placed into a legitimate set, the player forfeits two points, and if they produce sequences, they must always make three. When it comes to Dublees, if players group six or more of them, they lose two points in a 27 Card Rummy. The player also loses two points if all of their jokers are placed together without any other cards. For value cards in their possession, each non-dropped player earns points, but they lose points for value cards held by other non-dropped players.

Calculating Points for a Jackpot or Marriage

• A player obtains 150 points from each non-dropped participant if they have one marriage in hand. A player earns 375 points or 600 points from each non-dropped player for each marriage they have kept two or three times.
• A marriage’s cards can be utilized as jokers in 27 card Rummy to create other sets and sequences.

Role of Jokers in 27 Card Rummy

Joker’s role in this card game is a big twist. In addition to Printed and Wild Card joker cards, the tash game also uses cards with 2 Up and 2 Down.

Upper Joker: The card that is positioned directly above the wild card joker and has the same suit.

Lower Joker: Contrary to the Upper Joker, this card is dealt after the wild card in a 27 Card Rummy.

The Upper and Lower Joker’s interpretation

If the Wild Card Joker is an Ace of Clubs (A), then Joker Q and K will be down and Joker 2 and 3 will be up. It should be emphasized that if Ace is a Joker, a sequence of K-A-2 will not be accepted as a legitimate sequence.

How to play 27 Card Rummy?

27 Card Rummy is a popular card game that only uses the Point Rummy variant. The game of 27 Card Rummy is played similarly to regular Rummy, follows the standard rummy rules which involve picking and discarding cards, but it also has terminologies like Tunnela, 2 Up and 2 Down jokers, as well as Dublee. 

Terminologies

• Tunnela

A player has to declare at least four pure sequences to win a 27 card Rummy game. In the game of 27 Card Rummy, a pure sequence made up of three or more cards of the same suit and same rank is referred as London or Tunnela. 6♥ 6♥ 6♥ is an example of Tunnella. In this game, a Tunnela may also be created by three printed Jokers. However, 4♦ 4♦ K (where K is a joker) is not a legitimate Tunnela.

• Dublee

It might be two printed Joker cards or two similar cards. You may use 2♣ 2♣ as an instance of Dublee. A Dublee cannot include one card plus a joker, for example, 4 K (where K is a joker). 

• 10 Dublees

A player can win the game by making 10 Dublees in place of three tunnelas if they are unable to do so.
